I am the Founder of Ballet Body and Breaking Ballet (the online ballet fitness programme). I am a qualified and registered (RAD, ISTD) dance instructor with a special interest in fitness/conditioning for dance and for life. I started dancing when I was two and trained in ballet, tap and modern at the Pearl Shaw School of Dance. I gained a scholarship for ballet school in my early years, but instead pursued a successful career as a lawyer at a City law firm in London for 10 years. After having my young family, I returned to my passion for dance, retraining to teach ballet, tap and modern. My experience and enjoyment of ballet and fitness in general has enabled me to develop a unique body conditioning programme based on classical technique.
My passion is empowering busy women to find enjoyment in fitness and helping them to schedule that time into their busy diaries. Exercise has to become part of your lifestyle in order to fine-tune your body and to retain lifelong wellbeing. It is important that you find a form of exercise you enjoy, that stimulates your mind and leaves you feeling strong, confident and with improved posture.
Whilst my focus is now very much on adult ballet fitness, I enjoyed 5 years freelancing with a local dance school teaching creative movement, ballet, tap and modern to children and also ran the ballet conditioning classes for children as part of their dance training.
I have completed training in Maria Fay’s floor barre and Progressing Ballet Technique and I am a certified Animal Flow instructor.
I have been involved in providing ballet conditioning as part of the training for elite squads of board divers in preparation for national competitions and have also trained elite gymnasts.
I co-teach weekly movement classes to people with Parkinson’s Disease and I am one of the RAD’s licensed teachers for their pilot Silver Swans programme (https://www.rad.org.uk/learn-to-dance/silver-swans-1).
